As I’m about to fly home, here are some quick snaps from my wonderful week in Helsinki. Two years ago I spent about 48 hours in this city and I’ve been eager to come back ever since. So happy the first #WCNordic happened here last week which gave me an excuse to spend time connecting and coworking with friends, freezing my butt off exploring the city, and relaxing in all the typical local ways. I had so much fun in the Löyly sauna (did not go in the sea this time but next time for sure!). I fell head over heels in love with the central library Oody – the most wonderful shared space I’ve seen to this day. And I was lucky enough to have lovely people around to share this with and to climb rooftops with at sunset. And, unsurprisingly, now I’m itchy to go North. Next time. Last report from Sri Lanka before I fly home in a few hours. Had a day to explore Colombo with friends and found a couple of really awesome places I’d gladly go back to. Wright @ Co, the Gallery Café, Barefoot – the store & the garden coffee shop to name just a few. Still, nothing beats @saltyswamis down at Hikkaduwa. Most definitely the gem of this trip. Celebrated March 1st away from home yet again. Plus side: got 70 humans from all over the world to make martenitsi for each other. It was glorious ⚪️🔴 Overall Sri Lanka is a weird mix between Thailand & India, but greener. Like… a lot greener. I would have loved to explore the insides of the island, take the train into the mountains, spend more time surfing the coast, and maybe go East. Alas! Need to go back to Europe for a thing. But got my “Next time in Sri Lanka” list prepped. Good friends and good coffee appreciation post. No matter how exotic a location you’re in, there’s nothing like a really good cup of coffee to make you connected to your own special bubble of the universe. In Sri Lanka we found that in the charming Salty Swamis cafè in Hikkaduwa, conveniently opening at 8 am every morning 20 meters from the place we were staying. Right on the beach as well! So much character & the friendliest staff, fresh food, fabulous ice teas, freshly roasted & grounded beans. Turned out really good coffee was not easy to come by in this part of the country. So we were grateful. #SriLanks #hikkaduwabeach #coffee #coffeeshop #people #travelphotography
